A Company Centred on its Employees!

Decembre 13nd, 2023

At Sherbrooke GearWorks, we strongly believe that thriving employees are the key to business success. Our corporate culture is carefully built to place workers at the heart of every decision, thus fostering an environment where everybody feels engaged, valued and encouraged. In this article, we will dive into the realm of Sherbrooke GearWorks, where employees are the cornerstone of success.

The Foundational Principle of Having a Voice

Every year, Sherbrooke GearWorks invests in state-of-the-art equipment to meet constantly evolving client requirements. According to its CEO Jeff Bernier, employee opinions are vital to this step.

“We don’t consider our workers as simple operators, but rather as partners in our company’s growth. When we acquire new machinery, the employees who will use it come with us to meet manufacturers in Chicago, Boston, Taiwan or elsewhere to try it out in real time. We want them to be part of our decisions regarding the plant since ultimately, they are pivotal to our company’s success!” he states.

An Employer Committed to Employee Well-Being

To ensure that employees feel not only heard, but also recognized by their employer, the Sherbrooke GearWorks team hosts bimonthly meetings to review open orders and future investments, as well as celebrate individual employee wins.

And this is only the start of our commitment! Our company managers are genuinely interested in employees’ lives outside of work and actively support their hobbies and passions. Here are a few examples of how we get involved:

Team members regularly attend their coworkers’ basketball games to cheer them on.
Sherbrooke GearWorks sponsors the Sherbrooke BMX club, where one employee’s children engage in competitions. We also invest in the maintenance of BMX trails.

The Sherbrooke GearWorks team also never misses an opportunity to get together and celebrate its achievements! Be it summer or winter, the company organizes team-building activities to foster a sense of belonging:

Last July, Sherbrooke GearWorks team members enjoyed some friendly competition during a go-kart race.
The company’s traditional pig roast lunch is a perfect opportunity to let loose and gather with colleagues to savour a good meal. Of course, this event is always better under sunny weather!
And how could this list be complete without the Christmas dinner, an absolute must to get together and exchange best wishes before the holiday break?
