Access to your personal information and right of correction

You have the right to require Sherbrooke GearWorks to cease disseminating your personal information if the dissemination of such information contravenes the law or a court order, or where the following conditions are met: i) the dissemination causes you serious injury in relation to the right to respect of your reputation or privacy; ii) the injury is clearly greater than the interest of the public in knowing this information or the interest of any person in expressing themselves freely; and iii) the cessation of the dissemination requested does not exceed what is necessary for preventing the perpetuation of the injury.

In any case, you must make your request for access or correction in writing to our Officer and state your identity as the person to whom the personal information relates. The Officer will respond within 30 days following the reception of your written request.

You may access your personal information free of charge, except if a reasonable charge is required for the transcription, reproduction or transmission of such information.

In the event of a refusal, the Officer undertakes to justify his decision and indicate the provisions of the Act on which the refusal was based, as well as inform you of the recourses available to you and the timeframe to exercise them. The Officer will provide assistance as needed to help you understand the refusal.

The Officer will issue free of charge a copy of your modified or added personal information or, as the case may be, an attestation that your personal information has been deleted. In addition, he undertakes to immediately inform all persons who have received this information in the six months prior to your request and the person from whom the information was obtained, as necessary.

The Officer will keep the personal information that is the subject of your access or correction request for such time as is necessary for you to exhaust the recourses provided by law.

Right to withdraw your consent

If the confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, Sherbrooke GearWorks will diligently notify the Commission d’accès à l’information established by the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information and all persons whose information was affected by this incident.

Sherbrooke GearWorks may also notify any other person or body that could reduce the risk, by communicating to the person or body only the personal information necessary for that purpose. In the latter case, the Officer must record the communication of the information. Notwithstanding the paragraph above, a person whose information is concerned by the confidentiality incident need not be notified so long as doing so could hamper an investigation conducted by a person or body responsible by law for the prevention, detection or repression of crime or statutory offences.

The Officer will provide notice to the Commission d’accès à l’information and any person concerned as soon as possible, in accordance with statutory provisions.

User Code of Ethics

Respectful communications

Sherbrooke GearWorks has made respect a priority in its communications. Users of the company’s Site are encouraged to follow the same principle when communicating with its staff members by email or telephone. Sherbrooke GearWorks also expects users to refrain from attacking others personally, using inflammatory language or engaging in fights with staff members.   • Submit any advertisement, chain email message, junk email, pyramid scheme invitation, or any other form of communication that is unsolicited, unauthorized or irrelevant for Sherbrooke GearWorks;
  • Submit any material containing viruses or computer code, files or programs designed to disrupt or destroy any software, hardware or telecommunication equipment or limit its functionality;
  • Intentionally or involuntarily infringe any applicable municipal, provincial or international statute or law;
